Improving quality of life through massage and bodywork therapies.
A therapeutic massage session combines elements of Swedish massage along with Myofascial Release techniques and Neuromuscular Therapy.
Stroking and kneading are used to ease tense, painful muscles and to improve blood and lymph circulation. Myofascial Release involves active and passive stretching to release the connective tissue surrounding the muscular and bony structures, increasing range of motion, diminishing tightness and allowing greater access to the underlying tissue. Neuromuscular Therapy techniques are then used to target specific muscles by using static pressure or “trigger point work”. “Knots” can then be manipulated and released with greater comfort and results for the client.
The degree of pressure being used will vary based upon the needs of the client and the body part being worked.
Manual Lymph Drainage
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a very light but powerfully effective manual therapy.
MLD targets stagnant lymph fluid and works to move the fluid out of swollen body areas and get lymph draining back into the venous system. Swollen body parts will decongest and reduce in volume with MLD.
I am specially trained as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and use MLD to manage Lymphedema in clients.
MLD also works to detoxify the body. It can have an analgesic (pain relieving) effect and can promote deep relaxation.
Reiki Healing Therapy
Reiki is a gentle and natural healing technique that uses the laying on of hands. Reiki works and targets the core of ones being in order to create a harmonious internal environment that is conducive for healing. While Reiki balances the energy systems throughout the body, healing takes place on both the physical level as well as the emotional and spiritual levels.
While receiving energy work, one may feel an increased sense of relaxation, an awareness of internal harmony, warmth coursing through-out the body and/or a relaxing pulsing sensation.
Reiki Healing Therapy can do no harm to the receiver and is completely non-invasive by nature.
A true Reiki Healing treatment will be performed with the client fully clothed, lying down comfortably on the treatment table.
Reiki can also be seamlessly blended with massage and other bodywork for a more integrated treatment.
Cranio Sacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on technique that releases restrictions deep in the body, addressing pain and dysfunctions.
CST employs very light pressure to release soft tissues surrounding the central nervous system and can be very effective in assisting the body to function more smoothly and with decreased pain.
CST can address multiple conditions including but not limited to migraines, stress and tension related disorders, fibromyalgia and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Energy Medicine is an umbrella term I use to describe broad spectrum energy healing. Energy medicine employs Reiki healing, chakra balancing, aura cleansing and meridian balancing techniques. Energy Medicine is gentle and powerful work.
Thai Yoga Massage
This is a ninety minute treatment which incorporates passive stretches, acupressure, modified yoga postures and massage techniques.
The client is fully clothed and assisted through a variety of seated and prone positions.
Clients can expect greater muscle elasticity and joint mobility, increased circulation and toxin elimination, and a heightened sense of well-being. Both relaxing and invigorating, this is an excellent antidote to the ill effects of a stressful or sedentary lifestyle.
Herbal Compress Massage
Herbal compress massage is performed as a Therapeutic (table) massage with the addition of using a warmed, tightly bound compress filled with aromatic, medicinal herbs.
Anti-inflammatory properties target sore and tight muscles as well as inflamed joints.
It is soothing to the nervous system and helps the body reach a state of deep relaxation.
The herbs used in this massage have detoxifying properties and are both soothing and invigorating.
Raindrop Therapy is an aromatherapy treatment that involves the application of 9 specific essential oils to the spine/back and soles of the feet.
The medicinal range of these oils is broad. They are antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. They are also calming to the nervous system and tonifying to the respiratory system.
This treatment can be seamlessly added to a massage and is a great way to give the immune system an extra boost.
